Novelty Charms

Michael Kors

Developed a collection of novelty bag charms for Michael Kors outlet accessories, collaborating closely with the outlet accessories design team to create thematically cohesive pieces for the ‘Vegas’ and ‘Diner’ themed season. The project resulted in two primary charm designs that successfully moved into bulk production, each utilizing multi-material construction to balance brand aesthetics with manufacturing feasibility and cost optimization.

My Contribution

I led the 3D design and development phase for this project, translating creative concepts into manufacturable hardware solutions. My responsibilities included:

• Concept Development & 3D Modeling — Created detailed 3D models for both charm designs using Rhino, exploring form, proportion, and material integration
• Design Refinement — Iterated on designs based on creative direction and feasibility feedback, ensuring each charm maintained premium visual appeal while meeting outlet category specifications 
• Technical Documentation — Produced comprehensive technical drawings and design specifications using Adobe Illustrator to clearly communicate design intent, material construction, and assembly details to manufacturing partners 
• Manufacturing Collaboration — Partnered directly with manufacturing teams to validate design feasibility, confirm quality standards, and ensure products met outlet cost margin requirements without compromising design integrity 
• Multi-Material Problem Solving — Managed the complexities of dual-material construction across both designs, coordinating material selection, finishing processes, and assembly specifications

Olive & Martini Charm
A two-material charm featuring acrylic and metal components designed to adorn a leather martini glass silhouette. The mixed-material approach created visual interest while optimizing production efficiency and cost.

Cherry & Ice Cream Charm Set
A playful novelty piece combining a removable dog-clip charm mechanism with a resin cherry accent featuring the MK logo. The removable clip allows the charm to function as a versatile keyfob, while the complementary leather construction adds tactile sophistication and brand consistency.
