Herman Miller CMF Carts

The Herman Miller CMF carts were designed for the in-house CMF team at the Design Yard in Holland, Michigan to tansport material samples around the campus and present them to clients and visitors. I spoke with the CMF team to understand their working constraints and the accomodations they required through a sophisticated transport system reminiscent of the facilitiy’s design and the quality of work they output. I also collaborated with the manufacturers to develop a simple construction for the frame, that would allow them to easily and quickly produce the carts.

Smaller material samples are placed within crates produced by Hay, a subsidiary brand owned by MillerKnoll.
A gridded rack is exposed on one end of the cart to hold and secure larger fabric rolls during transport.
