‘HIGH WATERS’
Oil on Canvas . 30”X40”. 2026

The frame was meant to hold the sea, to turn something boundless into a view, a window to admire from the safety of dry ground. But the water does not recognize the edge.

Rising from the storm of its painted world, the swell spills past the border between image and room. The frame stands empty of its power, a relic of the limits placed upon the tide, while the sea reaches wet stone and shore beyond it. At the threshold, a lone crab walks the line where one world ends and another begins, unbothered, entirely at home in the in-between.

High Waters is about the moment containment fails and nature reclaims its reach: the surge that outgrows its boundary, and the creature who was never confined by it at all.

From the Out of Bounds series.
